Leather jackets come and go every season; each bringing a new shape or colourway. I've collected three very different styles over the years which I rotate throughout the seasons, and I feel like I’ve ticked off a style for each situation. My latest addition is this oversized bomber which I instantly fell in love with - helped by the fact the last one in the shop was my size.

I always have that panic when buying a new piece - I know my style now, I’ve spent years trying to find me again postpartum, I feel confident in the clothes I buy and I rarely buy into trends. But that feeling of introducing something that’s caught my eye without a plan of how to style it, usually catches me off guard. Luckily the muted brown shade of this leather bomber worked with most things in my wardrobe and elevated some of my everyday basics to make me feel more chic. I instantly knew it was a style I’d been missing and quickly found myself reaching for it daily.

For casual days, especially when I’m running around on school drop-offs or errands, I’ve been styling with my black joggers and a plain tee. It’s an easy throw-on layer with that 'boyfriend' feel I love, that instantly makes an otherwise lazy outfit feel pulled together.

For a more everyday uniform, I’ve paired with my beloved cargo trousers or straight-leg jeans with a tank top. Zipped up, it gives this boxy, almost cocoon-like silhouette which balances out with something slimmer underneath. For footwear I've kept it tailored with a thin flip flop or narrow trainer to help ground an oversized look. The contrast between the oversized, masculine cut and something more delicate on your feet feels really modern and unexpected, which I love. Even just draping it over the shoulders with tailored trousers gives a more polished take that works for the office or a dinner date with pointed heels and a clutch tucked under your arm.

The muted brown shade makes it surprisingly versatile - it layers beautifully over all the khakis, blacks and creams I already own, but also gives enough of a contrast to work with denim or something a little more colourful. If this jacket isn't your colour or style, I've found some great alternatives from brands like Khaite and Monki.
