Seven September Styles

As September comes to a close, I wanted to share the seven items carrying me through these in-between-season days.

Despite having an unplanned hiatus from Instagram, I’ve still been dressing up to make myself feel good and I’ve enjoyed moulding my newly found style into seasonal outfits. I speak about it often but I’m a casual dresser; I love a loose trouser styled with a basic tee and power accessories, something that shows even now in my transitional dressing.

Some key pieces entered my wardrobe this month, you know those pieces you didn’t know you were missing until you can’t live without them. A large brown tote bag has become the bag I reach for each day, easy to throw in all of the necessities when out as a family. I also purchased a keychain from Edith Beurskens that I’ve been eyeing for a while now to compliment the casual style of the tote, inspired by none other than Monikh. Who knew bag dressing was a thing?

This leather bomber has helped to dress up a trusty pair of oversized black joggers by Weekday for casual-cool school run outfits. I also purchased a thin knitted sweater which has been great for cold-weather layering or for draping over my shoulders when the weather’s warmer. Worn with the bomber, this sweater makes for effortless transitional layering.

I’ve been loving the cargo and barrel-leg trouser trend since it arrived early on this year, but I’d really struggled to find a style that felt like me. Enter these balloon cargos from Zara helping carry over the seasons.

It’s obvious the transitional shoe I’ve been loving is my Birkenstock Boston’s - they seem to be the shoe I’m reaching for over flip flops in these later days. While providing the ultimate comfort, they also look chic with any outfit. I’m so glad I finally invested in the real pair rather than the high-street dupes I’d been wearing for years, they really are standing the test of time and the quality is unmatched.

Another key contender and the final of my top seven styles in September has to go to my COS basics. I’ve been focusing on investing in the everyday basics I reach for constantly. Since I wear them on repeat, it makes sense to choose pieces where the quality shows. Instead of buying cheaper versions over and over again, I’d rather splurge a little more on well-made staples that last, feel better, and become true wardrobe foundations. While the price points aren’t high, the reliable quality makes washing and care easy without having to read labels - I’m all for that easy life while juggling parenting and the mounds of washing that come with it.

These seven pieces have shaped my September wardrobe, and I know they’ll carry me into October too. I’m stepping into the anticipated seasons with core wardrobe essentials and embracing the beauty of autumnal textures and the ease they bring to transitional dressing - embracing timeless layers that echo my love for all things cosy, bringing with them the warmth and comfort I look forward to every autumn.
